Why are SUVs actually a good thing.

Teste mule for Project Cullinan - codename for the upcoming Rolls Royce SUV.

The new press release from the blokes in Goodwood, featuring the test mule for ”Project Cullinan”- the upcoming Roller SUV, got us thinking that nowadays a car manufacturer has to adapt to keep its head above water.
Not selling out, but adapting with the times. It's a dog eat dog world, a jungle, in which only the ”survival of the fittest” law applies

Of course Rolls Royce, Bentley and even Jaguar fans will look upon the future vehicles with loathe, hate and disgust, because let's face it, few find SUVs rational, but last time we checked, a car manufacturer was not making a living from facebook likes or from fanboys.

Furthermore, SUVs are not that bad, especially high-end ones. They resemble the very best and purest turn of the century ”I'm-better-than-you” motoring that car owners had going on. Just look at size of the 40/50 Phantom and acknowledge the fact that it looks down on pedestrians with its ”step-aside-poor-men” stance, just like a modern SUV. So, you can't say a SUV isn't related to the basic idea of personal transport.

Don’t forget, Porsche ”diehard” fans went berserk when the Cayenne saga began, but if it wasn't for the big SUV to bring in the big cash, cars like 997 GT2 would have remained just a figment of imagination . So, if you truly are a Rolls Royce, Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, or any other car aficionado, embrace their SUV's, literary, and thank them that your favorite car manufacturer isn't on the brink of extinction like Lancia.
